if the ABS isn't working, he'll lock up a wheel or two. at 70 mph,
he's just about guaranteed to grind flat spots into his tires.
then they won't be so round any more. hence the reference to square
tires.
i've flatspotted a few tires on my mustang - that can happen
when you race a car that doesn't have ABS.
