Lee,

  You have to turn the piston while clamping with the c-clamp
(righty-tighty). Use big channel locks and be careful not to damage the dust
boot.

  You probably have a seized e-brake mechanism.  It's east to fix though.

   You should notice a firmer brake pedal once it's freed up too!
