Lee-
I'm surprised you fit 16s over those calipers.

I will have to test-fit my A6 2.7T wheels now that the
snows are mounted on the A4 and the 200.

Maybe you should consider the 8mm spacers just to give
yourself a bit of leeway? 1mm sounds too close.

Subject: [BIRA] wheel clearance / Hakka Qs

Just a quick update...

I installed my 2.7t 5 spoke 7x16 wheels today. With 5mm spacers, I had
maybe a single mm of clearance from my System 3 calipers. Glad I got the
red painted calipers, and not the ones with the extra thick black paint
:)

When I did my brake pad R&R, I was quite a bit surprised to find that my
inner left rear pad was totally gone. I did some pretty severe bedding
of these pads, and I'm wondering whether this pad came apart at that
time. I started to hear noise just after the bedding session. I only had
about 10K on the pads, and the rest looked fine. The Hawk HPS pads do
seem to give more bite, tho.

Also, btw I was surprised that the Hawks weren't drilled for the brake
pad warning sensor, so I tied up the wires out of the way. We spent a
fair amount of time matching the Porsche sensors to the Audi system!

Also, btw, the Hakka Qs are not the world's best dry tire. A *lot* of
sidewall give, a lot more than with the NRWs. I'm half tempted to swap
tires with my wife's car, which has the NRWs...

I am looking forward to checking out their foul weather capability...but
there's no snow in the forecast :(
