To expand a little more on Charlie's question, I have a mechanic friend tha=
t thought he remembered some type of resistance test on the back of the cir=
cuit board (dash).  Was he referring to a VAG test on the 26-point instrume=
nt cluster connector?  If that's the case, then I would assume the test wou=
ld be for the sending unit in the tank.  After the last few months of numer=
ous sensors going bad and the dealer misdiagnosing those other problems, I'=
m a little gun-shy about believing anything they tell me.  The S6 couldn't =
be more opposite of my old '83 GTI in terms of complexity--but I'll take th=
e good with the bad any day.
