Just to throw toluene on a conflagration,
At one time in my life, I sold cars at the then largest retail GM dealership
in the country (Cochran Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, Isuzu (when they made fun
little turbocharged cars with suspensions designed by Lotus) Suzuki). This
was in '89. Being a car guy, I cared more about driving cars than selling
them. Drove many of the same car, same year, options, interiors. Slow
day...take a test drive in one of the Thousand or so cars in inventory. Yes,
Thousand. When the seven 20th anniversary Trans-Ams (Turbo 3.8l V6) that
the dealership was allocated came in, I drove four of them, and I can say
for certain that there were HUGE differences in these cars performance-wise.
The only option on these IIRC, was a T-Top delete. Same with the Bonneville
SSTi's. I remember one particularly UGLY gold metallic one that was just
ridiculous. Some of the GTA Screaming Chickens couldn't get out of their
own way. This was especially true with forced induction vehicles. Don't
know why, but this is just plain fact.
