[s-cars] Block Heater Question

Gentlemen,
A block heater is available from Audi. I had one installed when I first
bought my S4, as it sits outside all the time in the Colorado high country.
I know, this is a crime in itself.
The part number that I have does not sound like an Audi part, but it is
ZAP-289-106 and came from the dealer. I had my local wrench install it. He
routed the plug through the lower grill, and is secured to the tow-eye
mounting point. The plastic covered plug then sticks out next to the
tow-eye with a few inches of cord that can be pulled out to connect to your
extension cord.
I can say for a fact that this thing works very well. Heater is blowing
warm air just a few hundred yards out of the driveway.

Hi Randy,
I don't think the block heater is even available from Audi.
I have owned s-cars (without block heaters) for a about 4 years now and
have
never had a problem with a car starting. Even when it's been sitting outside
for weeks on end in 30 below.... (I used to travel a lot). It always started
first crank.... Never had an issue...
Get good oil and you should be fine...
Cheers,

Hi Northern Listers,
Greetings from Saskatchewan, my car arrived from Quebec this spring without
a
block heater ( yes, my Canada includes Quebec !!). Quite surprised it
passed
our inspection, but would like any experience anyone has with das Audi Pan
Heater or is there another option?? Best cord routing ???
Thks,
Randy( waiting for 40 below) Lewis
