Hi Brian;

My '94 S4 uses 1 cup of oil every 8000 km (5000 miles). None of the 3 Audis
I've owned have used oil. It sounds like your S4 is using a lot.

You could check out TSB 179402 - it's Audi's official explanation for oil
consumption :o)

Oil that is.  Just wondering what the rest of you consider to be "normal"
oil consumption.  I just got my 93 S4 about 2 months ago and had to add over
a qt to get it full.  In just over 2k miles of driving it was down about a
quart and a half again.  I had a 98 A4 2.8 that seemed to like it's oil as
well.  Both cars were stock.  I love to accelerate through the turns and I
do open it up every once in awhile but I probably don't drive it near as
hard as most of you and definitely not like I stole it, or at the track.
I'll keep a close eye on it from here on out, but I was curious as to other
experiences.  I just switched over to Amsoil which isn't cheap so I hope I
don't have to feed it too much!  Thanks, Brian
