i have 255/40/17 victoracers on 17x8 rims for the mustang.  i also
have 245/40/17 hoosiers on 17x9, and i had a set of those on 17x8
rims before.  the hoosiers are noticeably wider than the kumhos.

how close is it?  if you were able to get the hoosiers on your car,
i don't think you'll have a problem with the width of the kumhos in 255
section width.  however, the hoosiers did have shorter sidewalls than
the kumhos.  i can do a little measuring on the kumhos if you want,
as they're holding up the back of the mustang right now.
