[s-cars] Anyone ever use 944 Turbo calipers on an S6?

Linus!
I'we measured both and the RS2 original front rotor is 304x32 and the rotor
for upgraded brakes are 322x32.
Apart from the diametrical difference there are other diffencences: 304mm
rotor has a 50mm wide pad area(ie 304mm OD - 204mm ID) and the 322mm rotor
has a 60mm wide pad area.(322mm OD - 202mm ID). This makes up for the sligtly
larger 993tt caliper for the 322mm compared to the 968CS used on the original
304mm rotor. The offset is the same on both rotors.
Both systems use as you say the same bracket(8A0 615 125A) and the other(apart
from caliper beeing slightly taller) difference is the pad-retainer which
place the pad in the center of the pistons which on both systems are 44/36mm.
The length of the pads are identical, meaning you can install a large pad(W =
60mm) in the smaller caliper with the proper pad-retainer, but you would end
up with a mismatch on correct caliper position to the rotor pad area.
Both calipers can accept 36mm thick rotors and I saw they glued different
"backplates" with different thickness on the pads at MOVIT, in order to have
the pistons fully retracted for every different thickness. This is a safety
precaution we all should consider when upgrading our brakes!
