[s-cars] URS4 vs Camaro SS

Ed,

LT1's are MUCH different than LS1's. The LT1 was overrated, whereas the LS1
is underrated. At sea level LT1's run 14.0, LS1's run closer to 13.4-13.6
depending on driver. These are not magazine times, these are what they run
stock at the dragstrip with a decent driver...not Don Garlits or anything
just somebody who knows how to drive. Being at sea level as you were, my
guess is if it was an LS1 it would not have even been close, an LT1 would
have been a better race, as my stock S4 at altitude runs almost neck and
neck with a stock LT1....sea level is a different story. As to why he
started to pull away more on the top end I don't know. If we are talking
like a car length a second, or something like that; something dramatically
changed in one of your cars, I'm talking 100 HP type change. My guess is it
was an LT1 and he was low on NOS and didn't want to "waste it" on a 4 door
sedan so he waited until he basically had no other option.

Ed,
Camaros are so easily hopped up that you never know if
you're looking at a somewhat stock 330hp car or something
closer to 500hp.

With a worked LT-1/LS-1, unless you have a seriously
modified S4, you won't be able to keep up, if driver's
skills are roughly equal.

I've seen early '90s Mustangs take off out of toll gates
so quickly that I was actually shocked how fast it went.
Only cars I've seen that fast otherwise were things like
996 turbos. Most of the guys driving seriously powerful
and expensive cars on the street don't want to play.
