Hi Chris & listers:
I'm a lister, and liked Chris' post. I'm hungry to find a solution!
Have owned a few Bentley products over the years and consider Bentley to be
tops in the field. I own the CD ($99 list price) and am completely
disappointed with it due to navigation that provides a 'narrow' field of
view; getting to the information is a hostile experience for me. I have
resultingly lurked on Amazon, s-car list, other places waiting to buy a
paper copy.
What would you think if there were to be a sanctioned re-print of the manual
by the listers wherein a trusted 3rd party were provided the original books
(say a 'bonded'house) and that we would buy from them>> they get photocopy &
bind fees and you get the list price for your CD (or other agreeable value
point). We all win: revenue flow, intellectual property protection, paper
manuals. I understand how an end of life car/book does not otherwise
motivate the company to respond to users the way a new market might.
I'm sending this in the clear for feedback from other listers.
Best,
