[s-cars] Bentley books vs CD

Family Album creators have been paid by VAG, so improvement continues, and
families get fed. Passing them around is not theft of intellectual property,
at least not in the mind of this VAG owner. The intellectual property is
provided by LexCom, and paid for by VAG. We are typically not using the FA
for any use other that that for which it was originally intended, i.e. the
selection of replacement or repair parts.

I'd guess that VAG's problem with our using the FA is one of liability. If I
were to use my ingeniously acquired copy of the FA, select an inappropriate
part, they could conceivably be held liable. Even though I've had no
VAG-endorsed training in the "proper" use of the FA, and have no access to
current FA data, I'm sure there's a lawyer out there willing to go after VAG
if something Bad happened.

With that all said, I'm a big fan of personal responsibility, so this
argument does nothing but piss me off. Not at VAG or LexCom, but at our
judicial system in general. Quite the whiner, ain't I? Even better, I have
no suggestion on how to fix this abominable situation, so I am quite happy
to stew in my own mess.
