[s-cars] Themostat Orientation O-Ring ASAP!

Gents,
 	I am changing my thermostat as we type..but need to know if the o-ring on the new thermostat goes between the engine block and the new thermostat on the outside/around the thermostat?  The old one was definitly toast and stuck open was sort of a biatch to get out as stuck in the block opening.
