I'm *so* glad you said this. I've been meaning to toss the Nokia microphone
and connect up the built-in mic. Now I'm going to leave good enough alone :)

Why not run the wire out to the side and then back? There's plenty of room
along the door sills for wire, and all the trim pieces come out nicely.
