I believe that to use the mic in the A-pillar you need to hook up radio
mute, otherwise the mic isn't enabled.

Loosly follwing the instructions from the AudiWorld site (there are 3 sets
of instructions out there that were written for various A4 models, but the
pinouts are the same on the urS-cars), I just wired up a DB-25 connector in
the trunk to patch all the required signals through to the RJ-45 connector
in the center console, and then used a RJ-45 surface mount box from Radio
Shack to break everything out to screw terminals up front.

To keep it simplie, you might consider just installing the kit using the
supplied mic, and either using the supplied speaker or maybe
cut-and-splicing into the speaker in the center console. When I tested my
Nokia kit with its mic & speaker the sound was great! Then I connected to
the Audi mic & speaker and got terrible distorted sound.

Doing the DB-25 patchover in the trunk is nice because it brings you hot &
switched power as well as the radio mute, mic, and speaker connections.

Unfortunatly, I'm going to have to drop out of this conversation for a
little while as I'll be on the road for a few days. Good luck!

Subject: audiphone upgrade

Hi
I was going to attempt the hands free installation
this weekend. I have the hands free kit the CARK-120
for 8260 this is what it looks like:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1382423588.

My plan which I thought would be simple enough but by
the sounds of it I have bitten off more than I can
chew was to break down the CARK 120 and splice in its
mic and speaker leads into the existing mic and
speaker leads from the audiphone. Has anyone done
that.. just a straight splice? I do not think I am
interested in the whole radio integration (i.e. radio
muting features). Just want to talk using the mic in
the pillar and hear the caller on the speaker in the
armrest.
