I have been working (fighting) through the payment process with Accel Warra=
nty over the past 2 weeks. This was my first claim and I made the mistake =
of getting verbal OK on the repair from Accel but not a written authorizati=
on. They have declined over $600 out of a $1042 bill up to this point and =
I've had to work my butt off for them not to close the claim yet. They may=
, in fact, eventually pay but for now I have about 10 hours of work in the =
deal. My dealer is about to choke me for even getting them involved with A=
ccel. The next time I need a repair I will have the dealer give me an item=
ized estimate then I will spend the time working with Accel, get the author=
ization, then have the dealer do the work. BTW, I had my mechanic replace =
the timing belt at 80k and paid $38 for the belt. My dealer replaced the b=
elt again (88k) and charged me $91.63 for the same belt!! Anyone contempla=
ting an aftermarket warranty should realize the amount of work that goes in=
to getting a claim paid and understand why dealers usually don't want the h=
assle.
