[s-cars] Any feedback regarding the new Dunlop SP 9000-90

The tires feel somewhat unstable when pushed hard,
they seem to feel "loose," like they are losing
traction, although they can be pushed quite a bit
further than the point where they feel "loose."

I think it has partly to do with the tread design,
but I am not a tire engineer and hard cornering puts
most of the stress on the outer shoulder.

Also, I haven't driven these tires on any really large
sizes, so they might do much better when they are
placed on the M5 in 245/285 combination or on something
like the A6 4.2 in 255 all around.

I thought the SP9090 is an OEM tire- comes on
some BMWs.

Never heard of a 9000-90, doesn't really jive
with Dunlop's model designations.

The SP9000 and 9090 are very quiet tires, but they
don't have the dry grip of something like the S03 and
they feel far more squirrelly at the limit, at least
in my experience. Excellent tires in the rain and very
quiet, though. Good durability, too.

Time has come to change my tires. I currently have Bridgestone S03
(255/40 *
17) and I am really really happy about them. The club supplier just
received the brand new Dunlop SP 9000-90 and has only good things to say
about them, in particular the noise level has been reduced. Price is
very similar with S03. Have you heard anything on this new model ?
