Paul,
I just picked up a 95 S6 last week, and was contemplating the warranty
options. The info on Accel looks pretty good.
If you get a critical mass for a group discount, please count me in.

Subject: [s-cars] warranty GP?
Morning, again (long-ish)-
Upon reading Bruce Mendel's post:
<<<<<<<<<The one I just bought (www.accelwarranty.com) is not on the
above web page.= However, they covered my car as a 1993 with 95K miles,
for 3 yrs/36K miles= , for $1700, $94 monthly "pay as you go" plan,
fully transferable and cance= lable, and great coverage!
I can tell you from my experience that the first extended warranty I
had, w= hich I bought at 65K miles for $1500, has paid out well over $6K
on my car.= I consider a well-researched warranty a must-have AND a
great deal for the= S-cars. I could not afford my car
otherwise!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
...I was intrigued. I'd traded emails with him about this before and he
obviously swears by it (I'm normally skeptical about these things).
Then I saw Chad Hall's experience with Accel not going smooth. So, I
included his saga in my list of questions for them. They intervened
with Chad and solved it immediately, FWIW (it was an issue with
procedure, not coverage).
I got mine this morning, can't wait. Why? Er, email either Bruce or I
direct to protect the innocent. It covers basically everything we are
concerned with, including OE stereo equipment, control arm bushings, tie
rod ends, flywheels, etc. No bulbs, lenses, clutches, brake pads,
tires, exhausts, paint, chrome, etc. But the big things we know are
destined to, er, well, are covered.
ANYway. While Bruce & I were trading Q&A's with them, we had a thought.
Ask Accel about doing a GP. Some discount for 10 or more or something.
And stuff.
After suggesting 10% off for 10 or more, 20% off for 20, etc., they
responded there wasn't sufficient margin to offer that. The 'deal' for
us they said they could do is $75 off for 10 or more persons. For my
'95 mit 97k, the 3/36 plan, $0 deductible, was $1,915. So, it's only
about a 4% savings, but hey, it's better than nothing. As Bruce and
others have pointed out, I WILL get my $$$'s worth out of this thing. I
can guarantee that! But I figured I share with you all what he & I
learned last week.
This is from Accel:
<<<<<<<<<<<<the plan actually allows for any year, any mileage, so we
are able to take care of your friends in the group regardless of year or
mileage. We felt we had to put a beginning and stopping point on the web
to try to eliminate some of the higher-risk, high-mileage vehicles. But
I know Audi's are good cars, and it sounds like your group really takes
good care of them, so I wouldn't have a problem with the any mileage,
any year plan for your group.>>>>>>>>>>
So, there would be a plan for all of our cars. I think the 3/36 option
drops to 2/24 after 100k, and possibly after a certain age. I also
inquired about a zero deductible option ($100 per visit not repair),
it's available for and upfront $115 (no brainer). As Bruce mentioned,
you can pay upfront or monthy, mine comes to $100 / month. It's
interest free, you can pre-pay the balance, and it's transferable (no
brainer, again!).
Email me directly I guess if you're interested or have questions, and
I'll put you in touch directly with the President of the company that
I've been dealing with ever since I referenced Chad's plight, if we're
able to hit the magic 10.
If not, no biggie, I'll still be laughing all the way to my mechanic
with my own plan.
