These, and some other wires Audi uses, are not a cooper / tin type of
conductor.
I think these wire are nickel or some other type (not sure exactly) that
will not 'take' the solder.
Like high temp wires, the will not accept the solder, it just rolls off. I
guess they do this for good reason, for one if used in a heater sometimes a
poor connection can result in heating of the conductor and then melt to
solder.
You would likely be able to silver solder these joints, but I have not
tried.
As far as the wear sensors, use uninsulated butt splices and heat shrink
tubing .
