[s-cars] Proper Solder Technique?

Two additional points that I didn't notice addressed in this thread --

Ideally, the iron temperature should be just below the temperature that
causes the flux to smoke (steaming is ok). To do this and still get
enough heat onto the wires without waiting for some asymptotic time
period, the tip size has to be appropriate to the heat capacity of wires
and solder. In most automotive cases, this degree of finesse is
overkill.

When soldering on a circuit board, clean the tinned copper pads first.
Clean the leads. A pencil eraser can be used in desperation, but
circuit board cleaning agents are better. The solder should form a
concave shape (like a chocolate Hershey's kiss) around the wire.
