Thanks all for the feedback. I'm having my wife order them through PUMA,
$140 / pr. I also forwarded the thoughts to Brian, should he decide to
inquire to Tom @ ECS as to what's going on.
I knew all the descriptive differences, thanks for clarifying, I just didn't
wanna think Tom was off his rocker by saying Brian's lenses stamped DOT are
E-code. We'll see where it goes...

Hiya Paul;
Your plaintive plea prompted me to summon the energy required to go down to
the dungeon and take a look at one of the UrS4 Euro lenses I bought to
replace the one kissed by a boulder this summer - ya, ya, I'll get them
installed, it's not snowing yet.
It has the arrow and the lettering Igor mentioned in his post along with
"E1" in a circle. If your lens says DOT and doesn't also have an E-code, it
probably is not a Euro lens.
Some definitive differences on the Euro lens are:
1. No window to view the cute little level bubble installed in the DOT light
buckets.
2. Much less fluting over the high beam, resulting in a longer beam and less
side dispersion. I can light up the back of a transport 1 km down the road
with my Euro highs - pisses them off something severe if I don't dim early
as I'm coming up from behind.
3. It has the E code in the glass.
On the other hand, I didn't think the DOT lenses were available separately,
so maybe Audi amalgamated the lens for the S6.
As for the Superwhite bulbs, I initially bought Hella's 70w HP (Superwhite)
bulb for the Euros. They were indeed bright white thanks to a light
iridescent coating on the bulb which filtered out the yellow wavelengths.
Cool, man, until I noticed it was getting hard to see on high beam after
about 6 months or so. Further investigation revealed the nifty coating had
turned into a mirror coating which emitted about 2 cp of light. I now run
plain Jane halogen 100w with much better results - hey, they're a bit yellow
but at 100w who cares?
Just cleaning the projector lenses will make a big difference if your car
has the typical fogging.

Morning-
Well, it's that time of the year again. What time? The time about where
the wife begins to ask "whattaya want for Xmas, honey?".
And the obligatory / knee jerk response? CAR PARTS! She IS a good wife.
OK, question:
At risk of drudging the bottom of the Hudson or kicking post-mortem equines,
can someone please provide definitive (yeah, right) info on Euro lenses?
Why? I've seen some talk before, back and forth, and know both ECS and Puma
are resources. BUT, the pair my friend Brian got from ECS downright say
"DOT" right there on the lens. He questioned Tom, but was assured they're
the Euro's. Sounds odd, so it prompts my inquiry here.
Yeah yeah I know, "do the full Euro / Xenon / whatever upgrade Paul and get
it over with". Kinda hard to tell the wife a $1k+ kit or a DIY $500 kit is
a "stocking stuffer", no?
2ndly, anyone have experience / thoughts about PIAA 9006 lo / 9005 hi / H3
fog bulbs? Disclaimer: they are NOT blue, they're white. My friend
installed them in his ///M3 fogs so they'd better match the Xenon's and not
look so yellow in comparison, and likes them, but figured I'd ask you all
(and stir the embers a bit). Any BTDT? I'm thinking install Euro lenses,
clean reflectors, projectors, upgrade bulbs, and be a tad happier.
Let the opinions / mindless banter and dribble fly!
