Speaking of Samco and PribbleHoses, that reminds me.... Being slightly scatterbrained at times, I think I forgot to post a public THANKS to a few people who went above and beyond even the normal S-Car-List camaraderie to help me out before and during OneLap. Hey, better late, than never, right?
OK Big Thanks go to:
Jimmy Pribble & QRS: For spending the day with us at Texas World Speedway! Jimmy showed up at the crack of dawn at the track, and gave the whole Audi crew a quick but very informative track walk. Since OneLap is pretty much an exercise at running a track cold, that you've probably never driven before, on 1 hour of sleep and 8 gallons of Red-Bull, this was a tremendous help. Not only that, but he brought spare parts, and even parts & labor to do a oil-change, too-short-old-style-Samco-hose replacement, and playing with wastegate parts, right at the track!
Tom Saltino: For spending a hour or so with me on the phone late at night while I was en route from Texas-World-Speedway to Road-Atlanta. (950 mile trip that night, damn!). Then, he agreed to meet me only a few hours later at some crazy early hour (5 AM or something like that) at his friends shop in Atlanta, and donated some spare parts to help try to fix my extra-boost problem.
Darrin Nederhoff: For spending several hours of the shittiest cell-phone connections you can imagine, transcribing my trip notes and putting them up on the webpage!
Ed Kellock: For spending the day with us at Pikes Peak Int'l Raceway, and hooking us up with a race-gas source ahead of time. He also brought his laptop with him so I could do a data-dump off my digital camera!
Ned Ritchie: For fielding several phone calls from me at odd hours trying to track down my extra-boost problem. Also for sending some test-parts to Jimmy so we could try them out at TWS!
Scott Justasson: For spending a few hours at his shop trying to help me diagnose my pre-event boost-lag problem and RS2 exhaust cam alignment worries!
Many thanks to everyone else in general for providing email support before the event too!
Anyone up for carrying the UrS-car flag in the 2003 One Lap? Anyone need a co-driver? :-)
I wish I could enter again, but being 6000 miles away from my car keeps me from being able to do adequate preparation! :(
Cheers,
Keith
