Ahh yes, the Samco install. A huge PITA, but once they're in, they are
in!
Liquid soap (or spit), plus I loosen everything up, crossover pipe and
IC. Then, I work from the turbo and throttle sides to the middle, get
everything lined up, and tighten the pipe and IC back up,
That throttle side though, phew, it hugely sucks.
Wow, I gotta say THANKS to you all for affirming my self worth. Here I was
thinking I was the world's biggest dolt yet again (typically true) when I
did mine. Frank, your last line sums it up perfectly. It hugely sucked.
Heh, and now I feel like a rocket scientist for using some good 'ole spittle
lube!
See, but you guys are missing out on HALF the fun of the install here! None
of you were cool enough to do your road test, at, oh, 10:00 on a worknight.
Without tools / flashlight. And pop off the mman hose. Then walk home to
get tools. Then wake up pregowife for ride back to car. Then have State
Police ask if I was OK on roadside. Then to get down road a minute later
and blow the lower turbo hose. Then to violently pull into a parking lot
with lights, only to cut across said State Trooper's front bumper as he was
parked in dark corner. Then to finish up at 11:00, with decidedly less skin
on my fingers, hands, and wrists from hose clamp scrapes.
Why do I admit this stuff? See, I am the world's biggest dolt afterall.
But, they're on, and they fit fine. And yes, them ECS clamps were "too
exact" of a fit. Didn't help that they seemed to each be suited for a
particular hose end, and I'd already installed a few only to have to re-do.
