[s-cars] Serpentine Belt

When I was under my car changing the Samco hoses (glad I don't do that
change all the time) I found the serpentine belt looking very worn,
cracking all along the length of what I could see. I just ordered one
from Rod at the Parts Connection for $21, p/n 054-903-137B.

Now, I just have to figure out how to replace it. I'm sure there are
some tricks to doing it. I have Mr. Bentley for reference but any
pointers on this job would be helpful. Also, for future reference, is
there a scheduled replacement interval for the serpentine belt?

Thanks!

Just a heads up, and maybe a query as to anyone with similar
experiences...

The car is an S6 avant with about 98k on it. I wasn't sure that the
t-belt hd been replaced by the PO; supposedly, but no records, and the
water pump occasionally sounded iffy, so I decided to do the service a
few months ago. But, as traveling has kept that from happening, I
finally just dropped it off with Keith at Crescent City to have Charlie
do it. Glad I did. Apparently the crank bolt was hell to remove, but
he scariest thing ws that they found the serpentine belt losing chunks
of rubber. What is the life expentancy of that belt? Although the
t-belt looked like it had been replaced relatively recently, I would
have thought that any problems with the s-belt could have/should have
been seen back then, or does it happen really suddenly? Any experiences
down that line?

Steve
Feelin' lucky I decided to change the t-belt...
