[s-cars] HELP!! Intermittent Boost Loss (Kind o' long)

Dear S-Heads,
Yesterday I was doing some hard pulls and I noticed
that when getting to 20lbs (software will go to 24) it
would back off to 10lbs, ambient air temp 67 F. This
wouldn't happen everytime though. Ok, me thinks it's
software related, I swap out the box and put in hotter
s'ware, hmmm, initially one backoff then presto,
nomore boost loss, holds 26 lbs as long I want it to.
Ok, try 3rd box, similar s'ware to #2, same thing, no
problem. Then, on my way home w/#3 plugged in, get
symptoms again, go to 20 won't go further, hold for a
bit, then back down. Also seemed to flutter a bit like
a bad plug (more on that later)
No fault codes, doesn't seem to be an air leak (not
consistent enough), plugs (less than 5000 miles)-
don't think it would cause this symptom but I checked
anyway- all perfect.
Any suggestions about the cause of this from our
collective brain trust would be greatly appreciated as
I have a Q'club event at Laguna Seca Raceway on
Tuesday
