[s-cars] UrS tire diameter ramblings

Confessions of a wheel & tire junkie. I just pulled my spare and other
trunk goodies so I could fit four 17x7.5 Mille Miglia Cup 2s mounted
with 225/45-17 V700 Ecstas in there (en route to the tire shop to get
some 225/45-17 Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons mounted up for winter
use). And I took notice of the spare tire size, 125/80-17, and it got me
thinking about the quattro system vis-a-vis different overall tire
diameters (especially since I plan to run four different wheel & tire
packages over the next year: a 16, two 17s, and an 18.).

So, assuming you don't have a matching full sized spare for whatever
wheel & tire (W&T) package you are running, I submit the following UrS
common (no 15s here) tire sizes and their respective overall diameters
(something you may want to keep in mind if you need to run our spare)...

All dimensions approximate...
125/80-17 = 24.87"

205/55-16 = 24.88"
225/50-16 = 24.86"
245/45-16 = 24.68"

225/45-17 = 24.97"
235/45-17 = 25.33"
245/40-17 = 24.72

245/35-18 = 24.75"
255/35-18 = 25.03"

So, there it is.

BTW, I'm looking for a set of 17x7.5 Audi / BBS RC wheels (a6 2.7t
optional wheel), if anyone has a line on them. Thanks.
