So, I am another victim of that poorly designed "drain"! I too had a couple
inches of standing water under the plastic valence and my passenger-side
foot well got pretty wet. I currently have a dehumidifier running and the
carpet propped up so air can flow underneath. Should I do more to ensure no
mildew forms? Could the water have affected any HVAC components? My blower
motor was making a funny noise (scraping) today before I realized the drain
was plugged, but went away. I wonder if the water really did a number on the
guts of the ventilation system :(

Last night, I pulled the plastic valence covering the heater blower
motor to fix my water leak. It appears that the valence was installed
improperly (clipped, but the windshield edge was not installed in the
plastic slot - just resting on top, so water poured right on in). Of
course, I remained unable to fit my fat hands in from above, but was
able to pull the crap out from the bottom (just above the steering
rack). Nasty. Solid 2" of standing water. Great. Now I get to pull
the carpet before it freezes . . .
Thanks to Tim Black, Mark Turczyn, Wayne Dohnal and Bill Mahoney for
pointing me in the right direction.
Who'da thunk a 2" oval drain could become plugged so easily . . .
