My guess is abs related. Perhaps a dirty pickup wheel or weak sensor.
Have someone outside the car check for noise (abs pulse) at each wheel,
or read codes, expecting to see wheel sensor intermittent or wheel
sensor speed imbalance fault.
I'm assuming the pedal vibration is a pulse from the abs and that the
abs is sensing a difference in wheel speed and pulses slow wheel. Plug
in a VAG-COM and the codes will better diagnose an abs problem.
Bentley covers troubleshooting, is sensor seated, clean, lubed? Is
pickup wheel dirty? Clean it anyway.
