I have been running a K&N panel filter in my car for several years and have
just removed it. My Happersized turbo went in to Turbo Engineering to be
refurbished. Upon inspection the leading edges of the compressor inlet blades
were chopped up from FOD(foreign object damage) ingestion. This was
attributable to the lack of filtering by the K&N. This is not any sort of
scientific study, just my observation.
