[s-cars] K & N Filters

Air filter users (you know who you are):

I used a K&N cone filter for a good period of time on my 200 20v, and upon
removing various intake hoses, I noticed a good deal of dirt coating the
inside of the hoses. I quickly reinstalled the factory airbox, and a OEM
"heavy duty" paper filter. I use a OEM filter on my S6 now and will never
use anything else. Not worth it in the long run. I'll gladly sacrifice a few
horsies for a clean, strong motor.

The local speed shop has seen several VR6 VWs that have had K&N filters on
for most of their lives, and the motors seem to have excessive wear.

Of course Hap being in Colorado, the capital of road crap, and me being in
New Mexico, the capital of air crap, you guys in more forgiving climates
might not have AS MUCH of an issue with your K&Ns. Still not worth it IMO.
