[s-cars] Fumoto valve installation

Just a quick question...I went to install a Fumoto drain valve on my wife's
A6 yesterday and found that what looks like a high pressure hydraulic hose
(actually, a metal pipe) is in the way of the installation. I believe that
when the valve is installed, the two won't foul one another, but the hose
won't let me tighten the valve as one side of the valve sticks out 3/4 of an
inch.

I'm not sure whether the hose is part of the power steering system or the
A/C system.

I have a couple of choices and would appreciate some input:

- return the valve :(
- drop the oil pan, install the valve, reinstall the oil pan
- disconnect the hose, install the valve, reconnect the hose
- find some adapter to move the valve out by an inch or so (not feeling good
about this one!)

What would be easiest for the average shade tree mechanic?

Thoughts appreciated.
