[s-cars] s-cars] E-brake console removal (help)

I replaced my rear center console a few months ago, so the memory is a
little fuzzy. The diff lock panel pries out pretty easily. The plastic end
of the e-brake lever needs to come off. There's a little plastic latch on
the underside you have to fiddle with to release it. I don't remember if
there are any screws under the shift boot, but you can lift that off and
look. I also took the rear air vent out, not sure if it's necessary, but I
suspect it is. When taking it out, don't overlook the 'secret screw'
accessed after the cell phone speaker is removed. Then there are the 2
screws under the plastic panel where the rear seat heater switches are.
Good luck with it! It's not really as hard as I'm making it sound.

Hello,

I need to replace the switch for the e-brake warning light which is in the =
console behind the e-brake. I have a new switch from the dealer, but I nee=
d to remove the console that begins just behind the shift boot and extends =
back to to the rear AC vents. Has anyone done this?

I have removed the two screws on either side of the back end of the console=
, and the one under that little plastic panel just below the e-brake handle=
, yet it still feels secure and not sure what else I need to do to get it o=
ut, or at least up enough so I can replace this switch. Does the e-brake h=
andle have to come off? What about the diff-lock switch? How do I get the=
diff lock switch panel out? Just pry at it enough (gently of course), or =
is there some secret?

Any help or advice appreciated.

Please publish any tips to the entire list.

Thanks,
Dan
