Hap-
I'm surprised you find 225/45R17 NRWs to be fine in Colorado-
my car is running that setup and I found it to be pretty loose
in real snow (Philly hardly ever gets real snow nor does it stay).
Makes it rather hard to turn or brake.
Taka
wishing he had been a bit more careful and gotten 205/50R17 Dunlop
M2 instead of these NRWs (Nokian doesn't have a 205/50 NRW)

Gary Kaklikian ran the 215/55-16 NRWs and was very pleased. My wife and
I both run 225/45-17 NRWs and really like their all around dry/snow
performance. I don't think there is such a thing as a do it all tire so
there must be compromises on certain issues. These NRWs don't force me
to throw on the summer tires if I want to run a little hot and blow out
the Happersized turbo on dry pavement during the winter months. My
commute from downtown Denver and points east brings me up I-70 on a very
humbling 3000 ft climb to my home in Evergreen. The NRWs have never let
me or my very hot-shoed wife down. HTH.
Hap, dreamin' of the snow fallin' in Evergreen, Maguire(Oops, there is
the Hiwan Cup old guys vs young guys ala Ryder cup format and the Senior
Club Championship before the snow can fly though)
