I think replacing parts for the idler small parts needed on inspection are a
great idea, and installing a new water pump will save you labor in the not
too distant future (altho the water pump has same duty length (I think) as
the belt). I replace as a pair as well as replace idler, just because the job
is a pain in the ass to get to. Chris Smith who runs a shop near Cleveland OH
can change a timing belt without taking anything off the front end, Ive seen
him do it, amazing.
