Actually, the one person that does come to mind when we're talking Nitrous on
S-CARS (besides Mr. Hack) is Scott Lampkin. I did some digging and found his
member profile in the Winter '98 edition of the Quattro Quarterly. At the time
of the article, his car had 112,000 miles on the clock of his '93 S4.
"The S4 has since clocked 112,000 miles and has been completely modified -
except the seats! Current power level is 520hp. Turbo; K26/K27 hybrid special
unit from Heinz Lehmann. Exhaust manifold; Lehmann high flow. ECM; race chips,
400hp, Lehmann by Jo Hoppen. Street chips 340hp MTM by Ned Ritchie. Nitrous
oxide injection; 120hp fogger kit. Clutch; RPS Turbo clutch. Exhaust; Remus.
Suspension; Abt/Bilstein. Brakes; Wilwood superlight calipers with Coleman
rotors. Fuel; JAZ fuel cell 3 gal, for alternate 110 octane fuel system."
Later in the write up it speaks of his 1/4 time... "His best run was a 12.67 @
110 mph back in August of '95, this was only when it made 400 hp." "If he
ever gets back to the track, he's hoping to break into the high 11's. This
would equate to a 0-60 of approx 3 seconds flat."
Hmmmmm.... call me skeptical, but I can't for the life of me image a 4000 lb
S4 nailing 60 in 3 seconds. Also, I thought it was odd that he said one set of
chips were MTM by Ned Ritchie. Isn't that like saying a Whopper by
McDonalds? ;-)
