Hi guys! hope you all had a nice weekend!

Just to clarify, I DO get some ping but it's been rare.  I can count the
number of times since the chip upgrade, but I've been pinging more lately
due to heat soak, which (since the only thing different about my car in the
last few weeks) I blame on the removal of the undertray.  Long story, but
it's a blown hose that I've now borrowed and want fast access to if it goes
again before Samco arrives... (thanks again Joe)

Mine seems to be coming from part throttle to wot, usually in 2nd or third,
from 3200 or so.  it pings briefly, and goes bye-bye (guessing here) because
the ecu backs the timing back.

I'd love to get to the bottom of this one.  I realize the MTM 1+ is
aggressive, but I'm seriously considering trying some different gas.

Great link on the article, BTW... I enjoyed that.  Thanks to whoever posted.
So... I know I saw something on this before, but.. who has BTDT on toulene
mixing? the article seems to "knock" (pun intended) this as not being very
effective and costing more than race gas.

Oh, and does the ECU "learn" and adapt the timing on an ongoing basis?
anotherwords, it detects ping, backs off the timing, waits awhile, and
gradually advances again tll the cycle repeats itself?

Perhaps I'm being a bit paranoid.  I'm planning the air/fuel & boost gauge
(seperate post to come) install because I'm curious to moniter this a bit
more accurately.  Me, I get a bit concerned about any ping, so I'm trying to
change my driving habits so it won't happen at all.  But hey, why buy a chip
upgrade if you're not going to utilize that extra hp and put up with a
couple minor details?

Hope this wasn't too rambly.  I do love my Sunoco 94 though...

AFAIK, Matt Russell runs the MTM 1+ with 94 octane
here in NY/CT with no problems.=A0 Is Sunoco 94
available down by you?=A0 Another peculiar thing is that
some MTM1+'s ping while others don't, while most seem
to be running 93 octane.=A0
