Thanks.  this all makes sense and helps a lot.  BTW, no codes from my ECU
either.  I think that's because, like Igor, I take my foot out of her when I
hear ping to allow everything to recover.
Count me in for the first GP on Bob's chip upgrade to the MTM upgrade!  The
line starts here!

should carry a minimum octane requirement  for 1+ cars that ping, but the
downside is that fuel economy will suffer. I plan on writing/testing a 1+
based chip that will have injector duration increased below 40-50% load (i.e
throttle opening). It'll be a month or so before I get the time to do this
and test it. Bob
