Guys,

there was a thread on this a while back where the pro's and cons of adding
overlap to turbo engines, and the suitability of various cams (including the
7A IIRC)was discussed.  perhaps a search of the archives will yield some
good info.

Here is some information I have gathered..not much new here but just to add
to the discussion:

"I don't know either.  I've heard that the 7A cams help a bit more on the
low end compared to the RS2 cam but I've not yet had the chance to drive a
car with a 7A cam installed (other than my '90 Coupe quattro
of course).  ;-)"

"The 7A camshaft has more overlap because it is for a normally
aspirated engine.  As I am informed this causes the exhaust to stay open
slightly longer during the intake stroke and helps to draw intake charge in
easier."

"I do not know anyone personally running this camshaft at the moment.  I
have heard of many higher bhp applications in Germany and surrounding
countries going with this camshaft instead of the RS2 actually.  The
supplier was unable to give me exact details on the advantages, but
obviously there is a reason these guys are running the cam on the higher bhp
applications.  The fact that there is more valve overlap is the draw, though
the exact gains are not known to me."

 Gents(ladies?),
                  I need info on the 7A exhaust cam on our cars. I am gonna
install the sport intake cam from AVS and have access to a "freebee" cam
from
a 20v coupe n/t. Is the lift and duration different or just duration? Has
anyone felt big gains? I asked Maxamillion McDonald at AVS and he thought
the
car would no longer be emmissions compliant with that cam. Any info would be
Fantaistorific. Danke

         .....also after I put in the RS2 turbo in my S6 could I put the
stock one in my 5k avant sinse the on she has has 250k without a rebuild?
