It can be done. Story from a long time ago. (NAC) Leaving a drag race event
(spectating) on Long Island,NY on Sunday night. The clutch of my 375HP 440CI
Dodge R/T fails. Will not disengage, and I have to get to New London, CT.,
about 150 miles away. Traffic off of L.I. is bumper to bumper, stop and go.
I95 has lots of toll booths. Shifting without the clutch, no problem.
Stopping meant slowing as much as possible, then turn of the ignition.
Starting...turn the key and chug-chug away in first gear. You should have
seen the looks I got at the toll booths. Made the whole trip, with only
repair being to the failed clutch.

FINALLY I'll say once again to anyone who's clutch goes to the floor: KEEP
DRIVING! Sure you'll be in Defcon3 panic powershift mode, but will save
yourself time & tow by making it home. Supposedly theres a way to put it in
first gear and start it again should you kill the motor, though I am not
sure how long your starter would last if done repeatedly.

Welcome to the busted shaft club:)
