[s-cars] S4 Steering Rack mounting plate - the continuing saga

93 S4 - Left front mounting bracket for steering rack.  the saga continues.

I made a short term fix to compensate for the stress fracture in the
mounting plate by installing a starter mounting bracket from a Golf
A/T.  The cracked bracket, once it warms up from the engine heat, expands
and start to click and grind at very low speeds and on stops and
starts.  It does not affect steering, but sounds like hell.

I have not been able to find, through Audi, the plate (bracket) that is
welded to the chassis.
My next step is to go to a metal fabricator to have a mounting plate
fabricated.  Has anyone already gone this route, had had a mounting plate
fabricated.
