Second time in for me, .. not totally stale in my mind yet:)
for those that have never removed Avant tailgate trim it could first appear a
mystery. A very great mystery.
You may have to do this for : rattle fixes, latch fixes/adjustments, lock
fixes/lubes, rust inspection +???
or as in my case, S6+ tail light panel installation.  *(Note to Bob Pastore;
the key to this S6+avant light installation is to carefully Dremel the
avants handle down to fit, NOT the light itself. About 1/4" L and 1/4"R and
ALL of the perpendicular part.) Anyway back to our story---...

Remove top inside plastic middle piece. 2 screws, then unsnap.
Unscrew and unsnap L and R side plastic pieces.
Remove ALL remaining (2 more I think) screws around outside of bottom panel.

Remove secret (hidden) screws. 2 in inside door release. +There is also one
on each side hidden behind the secret flap type panels on both sides. (four
total hidden screws) These totally stealth panels flip open for light bulb
changes and contraband smuggling.
Now only snap in type fasteners remain. Careful "yanks" here and there
should allow you to peer in from one side and kind of let you see what you're
doing / have to do, to pull the panel off. Careful leap of faith yanks
should unsnap the panel. Voila!
That's it.

As the Avant tailgates really take a beating my key lock hasnt worked in
years. Since I have removed it to do a total mtce. while I have this apart,
does anyone know how or if I might have a way to make it key operable again?
Now back to our regularly scheduled weekend fun.
Cheers'
