i think it's possible this car could wind up being a match for the
E46 M3, especially since the 4.2 doesn't seem to be as prone to blowing
up as the M3's engine.  more torque, slightly more power, AWD could
overcome the M3's handling advantage on a sufficiently fast track.

so what do you suppose audi will do for the RS version of the S4?  (and
will it still be called the RS4?)

maybe the twin-turbo V8 from the RS6?  after all, that motor has already
been developed.

450 hp in a smallish sedan - that'd really fly.  i'd buy it.
