[s-cars] tire wear

Jim,
the Eibachs & Bilsteins had brought my Camber into the -1.4 deg
territory. This had destroyed the inner edges of the front tyres in a
few mos. Luckily, that happened on the trashy General 225/50/16 tyres
with which the car came to me, so I didn't care.

Soon enough I had helped to insall the same the Eibachs & Bilsteins into
my friend's and neighbour's car - Stefan Richter's '95 UrS6. They had
brought his Camber into the same -1.4 deg territory. This had destroyed
the inner edges of the front tyres in a few mos. Luckily, that happened
on the trashy Michelin 225/50/16 tyres with which the car came to him,
so he didn't care.

I knew that By the time I decided to move to the new 255/40/17 Sumitomos
I needed to address the Camber. My drawing of a very easy solution is in
the tech section on Darin's site and possibly on Jimmy's as well. My
verbose 4-part description of the suspension mod is on Jimmy's site as
well.

The modification has worked extremely well for me and my new Sumitomos.
No uneven wear whatsoever. The best part - it is free, no need to buy
expensive custom made aftermarket Camber Plates.

I had modified Stefan's car the same way. Likewise, no uneven wear on
his new 17" tyres (I don't remember what he bought for the rubber).

A few other listers had implemented this modification and appear to be
happy with the results. Otherwise by now I would've prolly heard them
cursing me on the list :)
