Thanks for all the responses! I got a ride in a chiped 95 S6 and all I can
say is WOW!!! There is definately a difference in power between stock and
chiped. I know what you mean about the turbo lag. It doesn't jump off the
line but after a couple seconds it is gone when the boost comes on! Now I h=
ave
to find the S6 with the colors/featues I want.

Chris,
My friends and I were discussing this the other day. I believe what you are
feeling is throttle response and not acceleration. Car manufacturers have
mastered the art of throttle response. I f I get in a Grand Am as a rental
car and step on the gas it feels like the thing is a rocket...for about 0.5
seconds. What happens is the throttle response is so crisp that it fools
your body into thinking you are accelerating really fast...and you are for
about 0.5 seconds.
With a turbo car throttle response is not a matter of tenths of seconds,
usually, it is a matter of 1 to 5 seconds depending on a lot of factors.
However, once you get the car going look at the speedometer between say 60
and 70 in 3rd gear. Then go back and examine that same period of time in
your 2.8. I think you will see the difference.
Also, since you live in Minnesota you probably don't care about this but try
and drive a 2.8 at 8,000 feet up a mountain pass in 5th gear :) It won't be
a matter of how fast you are accelerating, it will be a matter of how slowly
can you decelerate. Not so in the S4.

okay, I drove the car and everything is nice. The only thing I don't really
like about is is that it doesn't rev as sooth as my A4 2.8. I know the car
is
more powerful but is really doesn't seem to feel as quick. Any idea why
this
would be or is that just how they are?

Today at lunch I am going to go drive a 93 S4 with 59,000 miles. Is there
anything I should be looking out for besides what is on the list here:
http://www.urs4.com/S4S6/S4S6_buyers_guide.html[1]
I am looking to sell my high mile A4 for this low mile more powerful car.
Thanks in Advance!
Chris
