I spoke directly with Ned on the cam alignment.  I believe his issue
(questioning cam journal split) was because he didn't routinely change the
cam chain.  With cam change, you want to be cutting the dots in half with the
split in the cam journal.  The best way to do this, is to orient the cams
together on a bench (level dots), and drop them connected into the head.  Do
know that the cams cannot be R&R individually.

I did extensive research on this after seeing a post from Ned on this
subject.  Every dual cam install procedure from audi references and/or
illustrates the cam dots split by the top of the bottom half of the cam
journal.
