Darren,

   You can't get boost without a load on the engine. Any boost presssure
would just cause the engine to hit redline immediately as there is no
resistance on the flywheel. Kind of like working an air pump with nothing
attached.
   You can pressurize the intake system though to find a leak. Somebody
posted how to do this not too long ago. You may want to try a search of the
archives.

 Is there any way to trick the car into boost mode
 while it is standing still? Manually cycling the
 throttle cable doesn't work. I have a boost leak and I
 am trying to find it. It is hard to pinpoint area
 while driving and my daughter says that the engine
 gets too hot when I try to drive with her under the
 hood. LOL. Any suggestions?
