[s-cars] RE: CF-Hood or S-Glass Hood

Guys,

I may have a source for $450 carbon fiber hoods but NOW I am looking for
this for my coupe not S4. It seems that I have an aluminum hood on my 94.
Anyone else have the same or am I the only lucky slob?

Christopher

Still would kill for a RS2 bumpercover/air dam for my US bumper.

Hey, if you guys are still interested in a "light hood" made in CF or
S-Glass?, then now's the time. All of you above initially sent me an e-mail
showing interest in having it developed (I cc'ed the lists in case there's
more), Trevor's willing to go the distance (what a champ!), but of course
this is a group type initiative that depends on enough interest. So sign up
with Trevor if you still want this to happen !

Cheers, /James "passing the gauntlet" Murray.

So hey I talked to him again today, and I just want to clarify
something, the initial quote was for a s-glass hood. I talked to
him
today and for a prepreg CF hood we would be looking at 700 a piece
and a
little over 2k for the molds. I never really got much response to
my
intitial inquery so I dropped it. I don't know if it makes any
sence to
put a CF hood on this car. But if we got 10 people to amortize the
cost
of the mold then we would be looking at about 1k a hood for a CF or
like
I said before about 600 ea for 10 for a high quality fiberglass
hood.
This would be one that would work with the stock latches and hood
shock.
This isn't a cover. If people are willing to put down money, I am
willing to set it up from here. Get them a hood to copy and let
them
	know what we want built.

	Hi Guys,

The man to ask about this is Trevor Frank. He was heading up this
initiative since he found the source. I initally had 11 people show
interest in getting a CF hood made.

From Trevor a few months back: http://www.aerosport.net/
<http://www.aerosport.net/> Don't be fooled by the web site this
guy's
makes his living making fiberglass/carbon/Kevlar body parts etc...
I
just talked to him to get an idea, he said about 1400-1800 for
tooling
and approx 400 per hood. At quantity 5 approx 700 each copy. On the
outside with 9 people that would only be $200 each. It would only
be
another $400 per copy then, for quantity of 9 so $600 US total.

	Cheers, /James.

James, what is the current status of the below mentioned
carbon
	fiber hoods
		etc.
I had mentioned to Paul Friedenberg on the S-Cars list (US),
	that I had seen
		something about them.
I would also like a CF hood too, but not sure of the price ?

		regards,
		Mark Strangways.
