Yeah W.VA!  IIRC, NH goes one better.   If you hit the deer, you get to keep
it.
If the venison walks away and dies in someone else's yard, THEY get to keep
it.

My dad stocked his, my grandfathers, and all his friend's freezers with meat
one year cause of that one.

Believe it or not, that is the law in dear old West-by-God-Virginia.  You
