Not to mention that Audiworld can't be read on the plane. I'm catching up on
list traffic at 35,000 ft on my way from SJC to ORD, on my way home to PVD.
Caint do that with a web forum.

There's a qualitative diffence in the quality of community on email lists
versus webboard discussion groups. With email lists, subscribers are
somewhat more committed to the quality of the interaction, while with
webboards, people frequently conduct "driveby" postings - posting something
interesting/useless/nasty and then never come back to see the results.
IMCO (and I've been managing mailing lists since 1995), nothing is broken
here. We've got a nice little community that is dedicated to sharing
information with one another, and it works. Move it to a different type of
technical infrastructure and you put that community at risk.
