[s-cars] Seat Memory - Redux

Ok - I'm slowly going insane on this one. I'm trying to set the seating and
mirror positions for the #1 and #2 slots on the '92 S4. First thing I did was
synchronize the two keys I have to be #1 and #2 respectively. Following the
proedure in the owner's manual worked like a charm (when the key was working).

Next, following the instructions in the owner's manual again, I have not been
successful in setting the new seating positions into the memory. This what I
did:

1. Set seat and mirrors where I want them.
2. Push the memory switch all the way down - meaning past the normal "on"
position. Hold it in that position.
3. Then push the #1 button.

As soon as I touch the #1 button, the seats and mirrors start to move to the
positions saved by the previous owner.

What am I doing wrong? Or... is the memory button suspect?

Mike - I can't drive in the midget space set by the previous owner.
